With Easter approaching, Kevin Flynn from The Lions Club of Queenscliff-Point Lonsdale shares a heartfelt message. Their unwavering dedication to supporting the community—especially local youth in pursuing their dreams—is truly inspiring! Their donation to QGC was put towards an inaugural Junior Golf Clinic, kickstarting the golfing passion for 12 lucky youngsters!
“The Victorian 10c deposit Container Collection Scheme at the Queenscliff Golf Club has been running for about 15 months now and is conducted by the Lions Club of Queenscliff & Point Lonsdale. In that time approx $5,000 has been raised. This money has been (and always will be) ploughed back into the local community, particularly for youth purposes. The three schools and local junior sports programs will be the principal beneficiaries. Some of the money will be allocated to child cancer research. The Lions Club has already diverted some of the funds back to the Golf Club for the very successful Junior Golf Academy. Members can be assured that 100% of the money raised will be allocated to those youth purposes and facilities. Lions Clubs does not retain any portion of fundraising money for administration purposes.
The Lions Club would very much like to thank the Golf Club for providing this excellent fundraising opportunity. We also want to thank all the staff, and the Monday volunteer brigade for their cooperative help in collecting and organising the bottles and cans. A special big thank you to member Brian Heron for donating the use of his covered trailer which has greatly assisted in the transportation of the containers to the depot.”
